February 29th

The other day, I was thinking about what would happen if you were born on February 29th. Would you only gain a year to your age every four years? (Probably not.) Would you have any say in the matter? Would you have to change your birthday to February 28th / March 1st? A quick Google search determined that it is the latter suggestion, but nevertheless, it got me thinking about leap years.

Unlike Christmas or birthdays, February 29th only happens every four years. Thus, I hold this day in much the same way as others would regard the Olympics or the World Cup (other events which only occur quadrennially, i.e. every four years). Right now, when everything seems to be fleeting and gone in almost an instant, I have been thinking about the future and what it holds for me. Which led me to think about where I'll be and who I'll be in four years time on the next 29th February. Well, I know that I'll be four years older, at the ripe old age of 20 years old. I will be at university, although which university or studying for what degree, I can't tell you. I like this unwritten chapter of my life ahead. Perhaps then I'll be able to stick to my resolution to be more spontaneous! Who knows.

For now, I will stick to being me. Because who else could I be? :-)

1. A picture of me in sunny Oxford! The weather here in late February has been particularly lovely!
2. Some bare trees, which are even more striking to me than trees in full bloom. Odd how something shedding its leaves can be so beautiful.

Alas, I have 2 more exams left and then after Friday, I am free of mock exams! It's gonna be a good feeling. Hope that you're all well and good and enjoying the last of your February 29th. Hope that you all made good use of the extra day! Happy blogging.

Triumph

Hello! I had the day off today as I had no exams which has been so brilliant and relaxing! 7 down, 7 more to go! I've got the bulk of my hardest exams out of the way anyway, which is a relief. Some went better than others, but I have to keep reminding myself that they're just mocks! And things like actually living, participating, happiness and being carefree is sometimes more important! These images below are good reminders. :-)

I just wanted to share these little words / bursts of inspiration that I've amassed from here, there and everywhere. I'll be back again soon as I still have had no time to catch up on all your lovely blogs! Hope you're all well! Happy blogging.

Sugar Town

Hello! Apologies again for a distinct lack of posting, I've been spending a lot of time with family over the last week in Oxford and then attempting to revise for the impending doom of mock exams! So LIVING has been a lot more important than blogging lately, but it's been nice to take a break from the internet... :-)

Just some random photos from a late night drive back from Oxford and messing round with some of the settings on my camera and then a couple of my face! Anyway, it's already Saturday and then two weeks of exams start on Monday. Wish me luck! Hope that you're all well and enjoying your weekend. Happy blogging!

P.S. Sugar Town by Nancy Sinatra is a great song! I also really liked Zooey Deschanel's cover from 500 Days. Which leads me onto New Girl... Best new sitcom that I've seen in a long time. :-)

A Case Of You

Hello! Thanks for all the lovely comments about my John Lennon portrait, it's so nice to hear your opinions about my drawing. :-) So school finished for a week on Thursday so it's officially half term and officially time to get into revision mode for my mock exams. Anyhow, here are some photos that I wanted to share, accumulated from anywhere and everywhere. The E.E.Cummings and E.R.Frank quotations are particular favourites whilst the first picture shows my top played on Last.fm.

I also wanted to share this beautiful cover of Joni Mitchell's 'A Case of You' by James Blake. I'm not really into his usual electronicy music, but this cover is stellar and the music video is great too. Hope you like!

So in the midst of revision, I went to a party tonight to celebrate my friend's birthday. Then I'm gonna be going to Oxford to stay with family and doing a few bits here and there. But mostly, I want to sleep! Hope you all have a great weekend and happy blogging!

Imagine

Bonjour! Am I right in thinking that I'm posting twice in two days?! You can really tell that I'm procrastinating from real work. :-)

Anyway, continuing in a similar vein to the last post, I have an equally Beatles-esque post coming your way. As part of my Art controlled assessment (preparation for my exam which is in May), I've been working on some large-scale portraits (my starting point is giants). Naturally, I had to attempt to draw the iconic John Lennon. I managed to complete this from Thursday night where I started for a couple of hours and then pretty much finished it on Friday night after school and just touched it up on Saturday morning. It took a much shorter amount of time than originally anticipated, which was a nice surprise. I'm pleased with how it turned out and hope that you all like it too!

Three days left and counting until half term! I can't wait to lie in, but I must remind myself to be a bit more productive since mocks are only 2 weeks away! During half term, I will definitely try and do a couple of outfit posts since they've definitely been few-and-far-between on my blog. Hope you're all well and that the start of your week hasn't been too painful!

Happy blogging!

All You Need Is Love

Good afternoon! It's been a little over a week since I last posted, due to the inordinate amount of work that I've been subject to! I keep having to remind myself that it will all be worth it someday. Someday.

Here are just some photos from my school Art trip to Liverpool from about three weeks ago. It was a really lovely day to be at the docks, despite the incredibly windy and cold weather. I had a really nice time at the Tate and then went to Starbucks underneath this Beatles shop. I bought a couple of souvenirs and it was nice to be in the Beatles' home town! It's times like these that I am so proud to be British and to live in a country steeped in so much great history and so many great talents.

It's been snowing in England at the moment which has been an absolute nightmare! Unlike most people, I really detest snow because of the way everything comes to a standstill, it's dangerous and impossible get anywhere and the horrible slush gets everywhere! Anyway, the sun's out now so hopefully life will get back to normal soon enough.

I hope you're all well and having distinctly better weekends than mine! Luckily, I break up from school on Thursday and then I've got a busy weekend until I have to get down to revision for my mock exams. Luckily, while I've been a busy bee, I've managed to write a few blog posts in advance so I won't be at a complete loss. Happy blogging!
